Confused about visualisation timelines, costs, or where to start?

We’ve got 26 years of answers waiting for you - no fluff, just facts.

The Big Idea
For over 26 years, we’ve worked alongside property developers, designers, marketing and comms teams, helping them bring their visions to life. Along the way, we’ve heard the same three key questions time and time again from clients considering architectural visualisation. Below, we tackle these questions and provide you with the insights you need to move forward confidently.

1. What do you need to get started?
It all starts with understanding your goals. Firstly, what are the visuals for - planning, marketing, public inquiry, competition, general communications? Once we know this, we then need a good idea of what specific design aspects the visuals need to communicate to support your objectives. This is important because the purpose of the imagery will shape its style, detail, and the storytelling approach we use.

Next, the more information we have, the better the results. In addition to design drawings and plans, landscaping and the treatment of surrounding spaces is often just as important - if not more so - than the building itself in communicating the quality of development to buyers, tenants and neighbours.

That said, we don’t necessarily need fully resolved, detailed designs. With our architectural and design backgrounds - not to mention our 26 years experience in architectural visualisation - we excel at working with incomplete or conceptual material. Whether it’s sketchy drawings, partial designs, or even early-stage ideas, we can extrapolate and fill in the gaps convincingly to create captivating imagery. Unlike many visualisation companies who shy away from such challenges, we relish these opportunities. This capability allows us to offer unparalleled flexibility and value, giving you access to effective communication of your project, earlier.

To save time, we’re happy liaising directly with design teams. And we don’t need hand holding; we’re experienced at integrating into projects quickly and efficiently.

2. How long will it take?
Timelines depend on the scope and complexity of the project, as well as how much collaboration is needed:

  • Images: High-quality stills typically take 2-3 weeks, but we can expedite this for urgent needs.

  • Animations/Short Films: Expect these to take 8-12 weeks, given their complexity.

  • Other Tools: Unique solutions, like 360-degree tours or AR, have variable timelines, which we’ll agree on at the start.

While we can meet tight deadlines, we recommend giving as much time as possible. Rushed projects leave less room for refinement, and that can show in the final result. Starting early allows for a collaborative process, with drafts and feedback loops ensuring the output is aligned with your vision.

Importantly, we don’t always need to wait for a fully finalised design. As architects ourselves, we know design evolves until the last moment. We can often start work while some elements are still being finalised, incorporating changes as needed without derailing timelines.

3. How much will it cost?
This is often the first question on everyone’s mind, but there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Costs vary widely depending on the type of work, complexity, and scale. Instead of focusing solely on price, consider value.

Architectural visualisation is an investment, not just an expense. High-quality visuals can secure planning approval, attract buyers, and justify premium rental. Be cautious of comparing quotes on cost alone. The cheapest option might seem attractive but often comes with hidden costs - limited flexibility, unexpected extras for changes, but most importantly a lack of experience and understanding resulting in visuals which simply don’t support your objectives as they should, ultimately preventing them from being met.

In our experience, it is not unusual for clients who initially opt for the cheapest solution to come back to us to fix disappointing ineffective results, spending more in the long run. At Blink Image, we price every project uniquely, tailoring it to your objectives. After all, architectural visualisation is about more than showing what something might look like - it’s about communicating its value and its potential and ultimately ensuring it gets built.
